How to Install the SnapEDA Plugin for Eagle

  1. Download Eagle (if necessary):
    http://www.cadsoftusa.com/download-eagle/
  2. Upon launching Eagle, you’ll see the Control Panel.
    Go to File > Open > Scripts > and select eagle.scr. Add the following line to the MENU area in both the BRD and SCH sections:
    '[bin/snapeda.png] SnapEDA : Run snapeda.ulp;'\
  3. Download the SnapEDA Eagle Plugin (SnapEDA-Eagle-Plugin.zip). After unzipping, move both snapeda.ulp and json.inc into Documents > eagle > ulps.
  4. Copy snapeda.png from the downloaded folder and paste it in the bin folder located inside your Eagle directory (C:\EAGLE 9.x.x\bin).
  5. The SnapEDA plugin is now installed. When you start a new Schematic or Board, you should be able to see the SnapEDA icon in the top menu bar.

Note: If you are using older versions of Eagle,move both snapeda.ulp and json.inc into the ulp folder in the Eagle application directory.

How to Install the SnapEDA Plugin for Altium

  1. Download the SnapEDA Altium Designer Plugin (SnapEDA-AD-Plugin.zip)
  2. Double-click on the downloaded .exe file
  3. Follow the steps of the setup wizard
  4. Click on “Install” and then click on “Finish”
  5. Open Altium Designer
  6. Click on “File” from the Altium Designer main menu
  7. Click on SnapEDA plugin and then log in with your credentials
  8. Get started!

How to Install the SnapEDA Plugin for KiCad

  1. Download the SnapEDA KiCad Plugin (SnapEDA-KiCad-Plugin.zip)
  2. Please follow the step below according to your operating system:
Linux
In your Home directory, create a folder named .kicad_plugins.
Extract the snapeda_plugin.py file inside of it.

Windows
After unzipping, move both snapeda_plugin.py file and imagemagick folder into %KICAD_INSTALL_PATH%/share/kicad/scripting/plugins.
  1. In KiCad, click on Edit PCB
  2. In Pcbnew, click Tools -> External Plugins -> Refresh Plugins.
You will now be able to see and initiate the SnapEDA KiCad Plugin from within the External Plugins dropdown.

How to Install the SnapEDA Plugin for Fusion 360 in Windows

REQUIREMENTS: Python 3*

For Windows users:

  1. Download the SnapEDA Fusion 360 Plugin (SnapEDA-Fusion-Plugin.zip)
  2. Install the SnapEDA Fusion 360.msi
  3. Open Fusion 360 > Click on Tools tab > ADD-INS > Scripts and Add-Ins > Click the Plus (+) button > Select SnapEDA folder.
  4. A SnapEDA Icon will now show in the Add-Ins tab.

Note: Just in case if the installer won't work/completed unsuccessfully, a workaround would be:

  1. Copy the following folder to C:\Users\your_username\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk\Autodesk Fusion 360\API\AddIns\SnapEDA

    SnapedaWebPlugin.py
    SnapedaWebPlugin.manifest
    Resources
    snapeda-fusion-plugin.exe

How to Install the SnapEDA Plugin for Fusion 360 in MacOS

  1. Go to System Preferences > Security & Privacy > General
  2. Click the Unlock icon, and select App Store and Identified Developers
  3. Double-click on the DMG installer
  4. Complete the steps to install the app
